NURS 630 is the nursing informatics capstone in Liberty's MSN. Its graded writing is a four-part evidence-based project ending in a digital poster, a nursing informatics analysis paper, a two-part professional portfolio and two forums. The Typhon practice logs have no guides here.
Liberty's catalog lists the course as NURS 630 Nursing Informatics Capstone, 3 credit hours; Canvas and the course guide file print it as NURS630.
What NURS 630 covers
The catalog description: This capstone course will provide the graduate student with the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of the core competencies of the nursing informatics field (ANA, 2015) through identification of a problem, issue, or need in professional practice. A community assessment will be performed to identify the problem, issue or need at hand. Through consultation with their professor, the graduate student will then create an evidence-based project, to address this area of need through synthesis of advanced knowledge and skills, resulting in a nursing informatics deliverable as a means to foster improved outcomes.
The capstone asks graduate students to demonstrate the core competencies of nursing informatics (the ANA scope and standards) by identifying a problem in professional practice, assessing it and building an evidence-based project with an informatics deliverable. The texts are the ANA's Nursing Informatics: Scope and Standards of Practice and McGonigle and Mastrian, Nursing Informatics and the Foundation of Knowledge.
The evidence-based project continues the project from INFO 668: Part 1 (Discovery) summarizes the topic and problem and ties it to QSEN graduate standards, NDNQI quality standards, Meaningful Use criteria or CMS quality initiatives; Part 2 synthesizes the evidence; Part 3 decides on a policy, procedure or protocol change and its evaluation; and Part 4 presents the whole project on Liberty's graduate poster template.

How to approach NURS 630
Bring your INFO 668 project into Week 1: Part 1 is a synopsis of it, due in Week 2, and the guide notes that 50 hours from the INFO 668 project can count toward the 150-hour practice experience.
The poster in Week 8 has fixed sections (abstract; knowledge discovery; evidence summary; translation, integration and evaluation; implications for future research; references), so write each project part with its poster section in mind and keep the strongest figure from each.
Questions students ask
