Liberty University Online courses in nursing, healthcare, business and psychology run in eight weeks, and each week is labeled Module/Week 1 through Module/Week 8. Every course guide we read for this site schedules its work across those eight weeks, and every assignment guide on this site uses the same week numbers so you can find your assignment by the week it is due.
When a week starts and ends
The week clock is not the same in every course. The published guides use a few patterns, all in Eastern Time:
| Pattern in the course guide | Seen in |
|---|---|
| Each week begins Monday at 12:00 a.m. and ends Sunday at 11:59 p.m. (ET); the final week ends Friday | Many nursing and healthcare courses, such as NURS 500 |
| Each week except Week 1 begins Tuesday at 12:00 a.m. and ends Monday at 11:59 p.m. (ET); the final week ends Friday | Many business, accounting and psychology courses, such as ACCT 340 and PSYC 255 |
| Week 1 runs Monday to Friday; Weeks 2 to 8 begin Saturday and end Friday at 11:59 p.m. (ET) | Several MBA courses, such as BUSI 520 |
Two rules hold in all of them: times are Eastern, and the last week of the course ends on Friday, not on the usual last day. Your Canvas calendar shows the actual dates for your section.
How the work is spread
A typical guide puts a course requirements checklist and class introductions in Week 1, a discussion forum or a short paper early, the larger written assignment in the middle weeks, and a final paper, project or presentation in Week 7 or 8. Multi-part assignments are common: a research proposal submitted in four parts across Weeks 3 to 6, or a group project with a stage due almost every week.
Planning written work in eight weeks
- Read the whole schedule in Week 1 and mark every written assignment and its points.
- Start the big paper two weeks before its due week; eight weeks leaves no slack for a late start.
- For multi-part assignments, choose a topic in Week 1 that can carry every part.
- In weeks with a forum and a paper, write the thread first; replies come later in the week.
